Laura & Sean’s Tropical Wedding in the Cayman Islands
Laura Kibert and Sean Himel’s destination wedding in the Cayman Islands was a weeklong wedding surrounded by 70 of their closest family and friends. From a daylong boat excursion to the rehearsal dinner at the National Art Gallery to a sunset ceremony at the world famous Kaibo, details were sprinkled everywhere for this beautiful wedding. We were there to photograph every moment of it! We loved Laura & Sean’s focus on family, sentimental details and an emphasis on spending quality time with their loved ones.
Partying On A Boat
Our first day of wedding photography was a day long cruise around the island. Loading down the boat with booze and snacks, 20 of Laura & Sean’s parents, siblings, wedding party and friends spent the afternoon giving toasts, kissing stingrays, learning about the island and swimming in some of the most beautiful crystal blue waters the Caribbean has to offer. Will and I both jumped off the boat with our cameras to capture special moments with our clients surrounded by stingrays.
Bridal Portraits
As destination wedding photographers, Will and I always arrive in our wedding location a minimum of two days prior to the welcome party giving us ample time to location scout and study the light and weather of the new location. This is how we discovered this beautiful private beach with dramatic rock formations for Laura’s bridal portraits!
The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands Rehearsal Dinner
Blend together incredible food, a live band, tropical florals, heartwarming speeches, internationally renowned art exhibits and a bride that requests “Hawaiian shirt formal” dress attire and you have one of the most unique rehearsals we have ever had the pleasure of photographing. The National Gallery of Art was the perfect backdrop for photographing a beautiful golden hour rehearsal dinner.
Kaibo Wedding Day
Prep and first looks occurred at the beautiful Rum Point Residences with a short bus ride next door to the breathtaking Kaibo restaurant for a golden hour wedding ceremony and reception. So many thoughtful touches of the bride and groom’s dogs, Archie & Theo, were incorporated into the details including ceramic statues as a wedding cake topper, chocolate chip cookies with their faces, couples cocktails as well as e large cutouts of their beloved dogs accompanied the guests on the dance floor. The reception ended late into the evening with a traditional New Orleans second line!
